Product Details

Fiberglass Mesh - EIFS Reinforcing from New England Building Supply is the alkali-resistant reinforcing mesh that gives an EIFS wall its impact strength and crack resistance. Embedded in the base coat over EPS foam board, this mesh is a core component of any exterior insulation and finish system, stucco, or synthetic plaster assembly.

Key features

  • Alkali-resistant glass fiber built to survive the high-pH cementitious base coats used in EIFS and stucco.
  • Open weave that embeds cleanly and fully into the base coat for a continuous reinforcing layer.
  • Crack and impact resistance that strengthens the wall surface against everyday stress.
  • Self-furring, flexible roll format that wraps corners, returns, and detail areas with ease.
  • Compatible with standard EIFS base coats and adhesives used on the job.

How contractors use it

Applicators trowel base coat onto the foam, press the fiberglass mesh into the wet coat, and trowel again so the mesh fully embeds with no exposed strands. Overlap edges as specified and add an extra ply at high-traffic and corner areas for added impact protection. The reinforced base coat then receives a finish coat to complete the EIFS or stucco wall.

Frequently asked questions

Is this mesh alkali-resistant?

Yes. It is made from alkali-resistant glass fiber so it holds up inside the high-pH cementitious base coats used in EIFS and stucco systems.

Where does the mesh go in an EIFS wall?

It is embedded into the base coat over the EPS foam board, creating the reinforcing layer that gives the wall its crack and impact resistance before the finish coat is applied.

Do I need a heavier mesh for high-impact areas?

Many jobs add a second ply or a heavier-weight mesh at ground level and high-traffic zones. Confirm the right configuration for your wall with our team.

Do you stock and deliver this fiberglass mesh in Connecticut?

Yes. We stock EIFS reinforcing mesh at our Meriden, CT location for contractor pickup and job-site delivery. Call (203) 565-4719 to confirm availability and lead times.
